Our Approach

Four ideas shape how we teach, and how this school keeps track of itself.

Classical Learning

Grammar, logic and rhetoric, in that order. Learn the facts well, then learn to reason with them, then learn to say something worth hearing.

Mastery & Review

Knowing something once is not knowing it. Work returns on a deliberate schedule, so that what is learned in September is still there in June.

Learn by Doing

Reading about a thing is a start. Drawing it, building it, arguing about it at the kitchen table — that is where it settles.

Individual Pacing

A student may be ahead in one subject and taking their time in another. Each course advances on its own, because that is how learning actually happens.

Curriculum & Progress

The academy draws on several established curriculum resources rather than a single programme, chosen subject by subject to suit the student in front of us.

Around that sits our own record-keeping: what each student is studying, where they have reached in it, what they have practised, and what is due for review. Structure where it helps, and no more of it than that.

This is a private family school.
